Free yourself from excessive worry and sadness
Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety is a human experience and, at times, it can be helpful and healthy. Problems arise when it becomes all-consuming and gets in the way of your life and your relationships. You might find yourself always jumping to the worst-case scenario, procrastinating due to fear of failure, or struggling to sleep, concentrate or interact with others. Sweaty palms, warm cheeks, quickened heartbeat and shortness of breath become all too familiar. Between the racing thoughts and constantly thinking about how things could go wrong, staying in the present moment becomes increasingly difficult (and if you can’t stay in the present moment, you certainly can’t enjoy it).
Let’s change that.
Using mindfulness and a variety of somatic techniques we will address your physical symptoms, while simultaneously working to understand and undo the thought patterns that perpetuate your anxiety. You will learn to ground yourself and to relate to your anxious thoughts in a new way, so that you can breathe deeper and live your life more fully.
Therapy for Depression
Depression is more than an occasional bad mood. It is persistent and insidious, reaching into every part of your life. You might experience constant sadness or irritability; loss of interest, motivation and self-esteem; the sensation that your emotions are always just below the surface (or that they have disappeared completely). Worst of all, depression persuades you to turn on the most important person in your life: you. You start to blame yourself for feeling this way and for not knowing how to get better. You are left feeling stuck, hopeless and alone.
Please read and believe these two things:
-
Depression is not your fault.
-
Your life CAN be better.
Whether your depression is biological, situational or both, we will discover where it is rooted and how it is sustained. This process might be difficult at times- I will ask you to step outside of your comfort zone but only after we have established a relationship deeply anchored by trust and safety. Together, we will change the way you understand and respond to challenges, and you will reclaim your life.
While I specialize in treating anxiety and depression, I also have experience working with trauma, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, LGBTQ issues and gender dysphoria. If you have questions about whether or not we would be a good fit, let's connect.
